Downtown Christiansburg: The second phase of construction for Christiansburg’s Downtown Enhancement is nearing completion. The vision of the downtown business owners and town residents is becoming a reality with each phase of construction. A few finishing touches remain such as crosswalk markings, parking space striping, placement of signs, and general cleanup. The general contractor, W&L Construction, has performed wonderfully and has been a pleasure to work with. Just last week, the electric meter was placed and the lights illuminated the sidewalks wonderfully, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Please take a few minutes and stroll the widened sidewalks, and pay special attention to the new flagpole outside the police station. Chief Sisson, with the help of local businesses, was able to honor the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty with special pavers around the flagpole – a very deserving tribute indeed.
