Gay and Neel, Inc. provided surveying services to the general contractor, BEERS Skanska, Inc. These services were performed in support of the construction
of the $36 million project that included an 11,000-seat addition to the existing football stadium at Virginia Tech with skyboxes, visiting team locker rooms, media
center, and vending areas. Gay and Neel, Inc. was responsible for establishing horizontal and vertical control, stakeout for construction limits, underground utilities, ties
to the existing structure and football field and layout of the foundation. This involved stakeout of 146 caissons of 2 1/2' diameter and up to 85' deep, to refusal. Gay and
Neel, Inc. also performed verification surveys on each caisson to check depth, plumbness, and horizontal and vertical placement.
